Volume 6 No. 1 January 2021

Abstract

This study using the descriptive design and a self-designed questionnaire with 0.77 reliability index and a sample of one hundred and forty senior secondary school teachers, sought to identify indices of curriculum implementation at the senior secondary school level in the Southwest of Nigeria. Data were analysed using the descriptive statistics of frequency counts, percentage scores, means and standard deviations. Findings show that though senior secondary schools in the zone had vision and mission statements and linked assessment with the goals of that level of education, lack of conducive environment for teaching, inadequate opportunity for continuous professional development, inadequate motivation of teachers to perform their duty, poor supervision by the Ministry of Education, poor infrastructure, poor funding syndrome and inadequate instructional facilities, among others, are the indices of curriculum implementation at the senior secondary school level in the Southwest. Based on the findings, appropriate recommendations are made in the paper.
